Allergy to crustacea is caused by the protein called tropomyosin which is specific to shellfish. Kelp is a vegetable seaweed which does not contain that protein and therefore should be safe for people with allergies to crustacean. However, the Kelp is harvested from the sea and could contain traces of shellfish. Whilst the advanced purification process to extract Fucoidans from the Seaweed is extremely unlikely to result in any tropomyosin to be present in the extract, we would recommend patch testing our formulations before use if you are allergic to shellfish.

The skincare contains high levels of natural oils rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants which all help to protect and repair the skin barrier. Additionally, soothing botanicals and probiotic Lactobacillus Ferment have been selected to further improve the condition of sensitive skin. 

However, if you do suffer from eczema, avoid applying on compromised or broken skin directly and always do a patch test first to ensure full compatibility before using on a larger area.

The whole range is suitable for those with pigmentation, however the hero product we recommend to assist with this skin concern is the Pro-Collagen Vitamin Serum, which is brightening for the skin. We use 2 different forms of stable Vitamin C at a concentration of 9% for optimal efficacy. In-vitro studies have proven the results of these forms of Vitamin C to lighten skin discolouration. We also recommend pairing this with the Luminous Vitamin Oil for further support, which contains the natural retinol alternative Bakuchiol, also known to assist with pigmentation. In one study, after 12 weeks of treatment with bakuchiol, participants experienced significant improvement in pigmentation and an overall reduction in photo-damage.

The first step is always to cleanse the skin to prepare it to receive the following skincare ingredients, which are then applied in product order of light (water-based) to heavier (richer in nourishing oils). 

The serum is the second step, as it is the lightest and should therefore be applied first so the skin can absorb it properly and allow for optimal penetration of the actives. The third step is the oil to nourish the skin barrier. Our oil is a highly absorptive formula designed to sink deep into the skin and not sit on the surface with an oily residue, so applying it before the moisturiser is the best order for this.

Yes it can be used, but it is important to know what kind of dandruff. The below may help you to identify the type of dandruff you are experiencing:

Dandruff caused by dry and itchy scalp - A dry and dehydrated scalp is a symptom of a compromised skin barrier. This indicates the scalp does not hold water well, the dehydration causes itchiness, the flakes are caused by irregular cell renewal process caused by lack of water. In this case, the shampoo used sparingly on the scalp will help dislodge the dandruff, whilst the conditioner used as a 5 minute masque on the scalp will deeply rehydrate the scalp and soothe itchiness. 

Dandruff caused by oily hair and scalp - This kind of dandruff is a different matter. In this case, yeast (Malassezia furfur) is often involved and thrives on the scalp as it feeds on the abundance of sebum. In this case, the shampoo can be used on the scalp more to remove sebum, but the conditioner should be used mostly on hair length as it is quite rich.

In both cases, we recommend the use of a scrubbing tool for the scalp as part of your anti-dandruff haircare protocol. This is generally useful for dislodging and helping lift the dandruff and activate blood flow and help with improving exfoliation of scalp for better skin barrier health and function.

There is no such thing as a “colour safe shampoo.” In fact, even washing hair with plain water is not fully colour safe. When hair is exposed to water, the hair shaft swells and the cuticles open, which by nature releases the dyes. All shampoos do, to some extent, further dissolve and extract colour from the hair shaft. 

However, sulfate-based shampoos have a super high detergency power and are extremely efficient at dissolving the natural hair lipids and extracting colour. The JSVitamins Hair range is suitable for colour-treated hair as it does not contain sulfate based cleansers and is much more gentle on the hair.

In addition the whole range is silicone free, which means there won't be any build-up of silicones on hair. Silicones build-up prevents even colour intake when colouring hair, so preventing this is an important step if you are wanting the best results from your hair colours.

Our general guide is below:

Oily Hair + Scalp

Shampoo: Apply on scalp and lengths of hair. Only double washed if needed.

Conditioner: Apply on hair ends only.

Combination Hair + Scalp (Oily at scalp/roots, dry at ends)

Shampoo: Apply on scalp and focus product by massaging there, then lightly rinse through lengths of hair when rinsing only. Only double wash scalp if needed.

Conditioner: Apply on hair lengths, with a generous amount on the ends. Leave on lower lengths and ends for 3-5min (or more) for extra hair hydration support.

Dry Hair + Scalp

Shampoo: Only use a small amount & use sparingly. Avoid applying on scalp directly or dilute in hand before applying on scalp. Single wash only.

Conditioner: Apply generously on scalp and hair lengths. Leave on for 3-5min (or more) for extra scalp and hair hydration support.

Oily hair is generally a consequence of hormonal influence, particularly excess testosterone. This over stimulates the enzymes producing and releasing the sebum on the scalp. Oily hair hardly needs conditioning, or just on the hair ends.

Haircare designed to treat oily hair may contain ingredients that slow down the production of sebum by deactivating and neutralising these enzymes. Soothing ingredients are also often used to calm the scalp as oily hair and scalp can be accompanied with increased levels of yeast or bacteria feeding on sebum and irritating the scalp. Choosing a deep cleansing shampoo that lifts sebum and germs without irritating the scalp is a good start, and using conditioner lightly. If hair is colour treated and damaged, applying the conditioner for longer periods on hair length only.

Yes, they can! Our 2-Step Vitamin Haircare System system does not contain any silicone and therefore should be suitable for those with hair extensions. Generally other silicone-based haircare is not recommended for extensions as it could dissolve some of the glue used to keep the extensions in. Tip: wash gently to help care for your extensions. 

Our haircare is beautifully and subtly scented with a 100% natural fragrance blend of Certified Organic essential oils. Our founder Jess personally selected a combination of Bergamot Oil, Sweet Orange Peel Oil, Cedarwood Bark Oil, Ylang Oil and Vanilla Extract, reflecting her favourite scents. Working with our biochemist, this has been perfectly balanced in the formulas to deliver just the right amount of aromatherapy as you lather and condition your hair, without it being overpowering. Our natural fragrance gives a refreshing burst of citrus, finished with woody undertones, which is both invigorating and classy.

Our shampoo may feel slightly different from your conventional shampoos, which is because it’s all natural! It doesn’t contain chemical softeners and is free from nasties - instead this formula uses vitamins and botanical actives to gently foam and cleanse. 

Please focus on massaging it into the scalp and then lightly use it through the lengths. The formula is bursting with ingredients that support optimal scalp health and that means healthy, beautiful hair. Always follow with conditioner! The Nourishing Vitamin Conditioner balances it out perfectly.

There is really no rule as to how often you should wash hair with our shampoo and conditioner, as it depends on your lifestyle, hair type and habits. Some people may do it several times a week, others once a week, some only a couple of times a month. Our range is natural and gentle, so you can use it as frequently as suits your lifestyle and hair - find what works optimally for you!
